I have a used Dell Inspiron E1505 that is about 5 years old, total. The speakers are the best I've ever heard on a laptop, or they WERE! Suddenly, (with no trauAma to explain it), they're breaking up like a bad cell phone connection. Anyone familiar with this issue and know how I can fix it?

I agree the speakers on the E1505 sound very good. I can't seem to find a reasonably priced notebook that comes with decent speakers. I've had mine for 6 years and (when I got a new laptop earlier this year for work) use it mainly for browsing the net and music. It originally came Win XP Media Edition OS and surprisingly works well with Vista Ultimate, Ubunta 12.04, and decided to test Win8 Consumer Edition for fun. So far no issues.
