When I first got my Dell laptop, the mouse pad had special sensor areas for scroll up/down and scroll left/right. Basically it's a little area on the right-side ... and bottom-side of the mouse pad... and you stroke it to perform scroll up/down, left/right.

I re-install my entire system using the Dell Vista Cd.. and then it's driver CD. I installed every single driver possible for my laptop.

The volume & play/stop buttons work now. But the special mouse pad doesn't work.

Have a look at the input drivers on the website. Should be there.

the Touchpad (real name for "mousepad") requires its own drivers, have you first of all installed the proper touchpad drivers, if not go to the Dell website as ORLY stated. ;)
