Upgrading an E1705. Need a specific recommendation on memory upgrade.
Choice is 1GB of 667 or 2GB of 533 since they price out pretty close for mid-range prices on newegg.com. I will have definite, but infrequent, need for 2GB, so it's probably worth the overkill on capacity rather than speed.

I'd like 2x1GB DDR2 PC2-4200 533MHz that is less expensive than Crucial and known to work in Dell 9400/E1705.

Lots of choices at newegg and other sites and I'm looking to minimize the chance of needing RMA for bad memory, so I'd like to maximize quality vs. price in the mid-range.

    Thanks

Thanks for the quick response. But I wasn't clear on my request.

I know what and how much I want (2GB 533Mhz DDR2). [Edit: I'm looking in the $150+- range] I am looking for a specific recommendation on a brand to buy that is reasonable price and good quality.

On newegg the reviews are relevant to various models of computer. I've seen some dell 9300's and a couple E1505/E1705s, but not enough to develop a comfort level. I've been doing a bunch of research, but it's a impractical to slog through the reviews looking for folks who have success with the 9400/E1705 line. So I thought in this focused forum people would have experience more relevant to my request.

    thanks

OCZ and PQI seem to get fairly good reviews and a re slightly more affordable than the premier brands... i know that isn't specific, which i can't really help you with. you can always return it to newegg.
