I just received my Vostro 1500 - I have done the following:

    1. Expanded the RECOVERY partition to 73GB, while shrinking the OS partition to 74GB using GPARTED.
    2. Installed XP Pro over recovery partition - no major issues getting the correct XP drivers, thanks DELL!
    3. I'm having a bit of problems getting the EasyBCD dualboot to work, but so far I'm just using XP.

The main problem I have is that Intel SpeedStep doesn't seem to work - the mashine keeps running at 2GHz no matter what OS i'm running. I have checked that I have enabled SpeedStep in the BIOS.

Any thoughts on how to get SpeedStep working - the machine is running a bit hot, since it's allways on 2GHz

    Cheers

Hmm  - it turns out SpeedStep was switched on all along - I was just monitoring the frequency with the wrong settings in mobile meter :) - good thing nobody bothered to reply :)
