Just got my new Inspiron 1721 on Friday, and I'm having fun getting adjusted to Vista, but I've got one question...

How do I turn off that annoying-as-sin spell checker that is putting a red dotted line under everything I type? And it's not just things I misspell, because I don't misspell that often, it's under everything else like names and what not. Where do I go to turn this feature off? It's making me crazy!

Why would you need to remove it? Hate being corrected on stupidity?

Just kidding, though for me personally, it's not that annoying. It's actually a nice little feature.

Oh, perhaps you'd talking about the built in spell checker in Firefox 2? If so:

    1. Type about:config in the address bar.

    2. In the filter field type spell

    3. Find the entry for layout.spellcheckDefault and double-click it.

    4. Set the integer to 1 to enable the spell checker.
Set the integer to 0 to disable the spell checker.

Smart guy, Vista doesn't have spell checking...only applications do, so we need to know what you are talking about, because this has nothing to do with Vista ;)

    Ok, ok... lol

It's doing it to me in Trillian and in Firefox, but chuck's tutorial for shutting it off in Firefox worked. I can probably figure out Trillian.

    *EDIT* N/M, I got it.
