I spilled water on my keyboard, and I thought by having the spill-resilient keyboard that I'd be ok after letting it dry. But now, the downkey seems to be stuck, and it keeps scrolling down. Am I covered by warranty on this? Thanks a lot!

    _Chrono

Edit: Now the down key doesn't work at all. Everything else works perfectly fine.
Edit 2: After running some keyboard test, it seemsd that the End button also sometimes gets stuck.

Did you purchase the complete care warranty? This is in addition to your regular warranty. If not then you have no coverage for the accident.

No, I didn't get the complete care warranty. If I said it just stopped working, will that sound believable?

Thank you so much for your help guys. I was really upset when my keyboard started freaking out. I'll talk to Dell Chat tomorrow and see what they say. I'll fill everyone in ASAP.

Yep, it may very well work if you don't tell them anything. Luckily you didn't spill a sugary drink or milk, it would have left residue all over the inside once it dried.

just a warning some times companies put water strips in there products, like last year I spilt water on my friends Nintendo DS, we pulled the battery out, and there was a water strip... after drying, we got it working so that was not an issue; but Nintendo would have been able to see that water was spilt on it if we had sent it in.

Yeah, I just spilled water. Nothing else. Hopefully there's no water strip in this thing. Or else that would suck...so I would just have to replace the keyboard if this didn't work? How much would that cost?

Right. Everyone knows that vendors always stand on the sides of their customers and the warranties that those customers do buy.

Yes, it is. It's a lie by omission, and no excuse you gents can dream up make it less so, or less wrong.

OH NO I LIED I SPILLED WATER ON MY LAPTOP KEYBOARD I'M A FRAUD!

Gimmie a break. In the occasion that this were a small company ran by a family I'd totally agree, but a massive global company like Dell? That keyboard isn't even worth pocket change to them. You could steal 100's of those keyboards and Dell wouldn't even know give me a break...

If you have a soul you won't lie about spilling water. If you have brains you'll just it has a mechanical issue and get a replacement.

Thanks for the comments so far everyone. It's really starting to get to me. It keeps scrolling down when I try to type a comment in, so I'll definitely talk to Dell Chat. Again, I'll keep everyone filled in.

Shouldn't the base warranty cover this too - it's a "spill-resilient" keyboard isn't it? He had a spill, and it wasn't resilient enough.

I actually didn't have a chance to talk to Dell today because of school and all that stuff.

Also, after carefully looking at the keyboards, I noticed that there are green strips on some areas of the keyboard and not on any others. Possibly the water test strip?

I'll definitely do it tomorrow because I don't have class. I'll keep everyone updated. Thanks again.

What has the size of the company got to do with lying? Guess, I'll just go along with you, since you're screaming it's so in big bold capital letters: you're a liar and a fraud, then, if you insist.
