Is there anyway to stop or reduce the number of creaks and noises the laptop makes when picking it up?

I usually notice it creaking on the top left corner whenever I need to pick up or move the laptop. It's not very loud, but it is annoying hearing it squeak. It seems as if something is loose and needs to be tightened or something. :)

I would turn the laptop upside down and take a small screw driver, see if there are any loose screws. Beyond that, there is not much you can do. Which Dell do you have?

i had the same problem, and i narrowed it to the dvd drive so i took the screw out to remove it. On my dell its the screw with the lock symbol next to it. i removed the dvd drive then put it back in, made sure it was in all the way and put the screw in and the squeak went away

lol..Pam cooking spray smells better and with that dimethyl silicone the ladies in the commercials talk about, it should have great lubrication properties.

The chassis on some notebooks aren't that ridgid. I try not not pick mine up by the corners so as to not stress the parts as much. I can't imagine any lubrication that would be suitable, but small amounts you might try it. Might check the optical drive like Matt did..it's worth a try.

On my E1505 when I put my hand down on the right side it made a clicking noise. I checked the screws on the bottom and they were all ok. I shipped it to the repair depot for them to fix a power connector issue so I also had them take a look at this.
