    Hi all,

I hope someone can assist me with this problem (apologies if it is posted elsewhere).

I have a second hand Dell Inspiron 6000 (about 2 years old). The laptop has been fine until recently when it keeps going into stand by mode (when using the battery and connected to the mains). I have to then either close the lid or hit the power button to get the laptop out of hibernation.

I have been into the Power Options and set everything to never go into stand by. I have also turned off the hibernate option.

However, the 'Maximum Battery (QuickSet), Maximum Performance (QuickSet), Wireless Disabled (QuickSet) power schemes always revert back to their previous settings next time I access the laptop.

Can anyone offer any other advice on this? I am running Windows XP if this is relevant.

    Thanks for any help.
