I made a repair log for my M9750 so I thought I'd make one for my sisters E1420. Dell is pretty annoying in this case and I've been on the phone with them for 1h20m and its very slow considering I'm doing what I've already tried to do with the computer.

    1. I've re-installed windows twice on my own and twice with them.
    2. I've run diagnostics and whatnot.
    3. This call seems to be going no where as they don't want to admit that it needs to be looked at by them because I honestly thing something is broken in the computer...

I understand what you mean, as Dell claimed that my GPU heatsink being loose wasn't an issue and that 10-15 fps (with a 8400M GS) in 4-5 year old old games is normal as the computer I bought isn't a gaming pc .

Oh well, at least they are finally sending me a box to send the lil bugger in.

Why don't you give us a little more detail as to what is wrong? We might be able to help.

Dell consumer level is a pain to deal with at times. We've been through our share of issues, and them not believing us. Our LCD screen sat low, causing the task bar to be under the bezel. Dell said it was "normal", a few months later the task bar disappeared basically, and it turns out no one ever installed any screws in the LCD, hard drive, or basically anything for that matter.

It tooks months of arguing, escalated calls, and a lot more to get them to finally replace the laptop, which was never right since the beginning.

Keep track of who you talk to, when, what they said, etc. It will help when you get put in a bad situation. I had kept logs of everything, and if it wasn't for staying on top of it, I wouldn't have had the laptop replaced.

Well we just did a re-install again but she had me install a SATA controller during the re-install so hopefully that will help. I am currently busy installing all of the software onto the notebook again and since my sister is an idiot I'm thinking of getting kaspersky or nod32 for her.

The re-install with the SATA drivers seems to be working but only time will tell.

Well the guy must have dropped it or something because while he fixed the lid, the motherboard and LCD screen are somehow broken now lol. Another guy is coming with a new Mobo and screen.

Another tech came today but Dell forgot to ship out the motherboard and instead they shipped out a palmrest so the computer still doesn't work. Here are the list of parts that it has had replaced.

    1. Lid (the dell tech must have dropped it and messed up the motherboard).
    2. Palmrest
    3. LCD
