I've been seeing these strange screens during bootup (after the Dell splash screen) since I upgraded my RAM to 4gb and installed Vista 64.

I originally thought that they were due to me not installing AHCI properly so I went and reinstalled Vista using the proper AHCI drivers this time but this didn't help at all. I installed Matrix Manager and saw that AHCI was working and I updated the bios to A09 too.

They flash up really quickly (hence the blurred 2nd photo) straight after eachother and I couldn't even read them until I took photos of them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as they've been REALLY annoying me and I need my laptop up and running again ASAP!

    Thank,
    S.h.2001

Did you do a clean install of Vista 64-bit? Looks like you've got more than one OS on your drive, hence the request to choose which one you want to boot into.

I did do a clean install, reformatted the drive, removed the media direct partition and installed Vista 64. The second time I installed it I reformatted again too.

Also I certainly never put a Windows NT/2000/XP cd anywhere near it!!

hmm it seems like you tried to install Linux , thats why you're getting this GRUB Boot loader option bro

Just Boot using your Vista CD/DVD , then select repair option then using command line . then type

    Code:
    Bootrec /fixmbr
    bootrec /fixboot
    you'll get you're Vista Bootloader

    I love you :D

And just for the record I think the other bootloader was due to the source of my Vista 64 DVD which I probably shouldn't talk about here.

    Thanks again!

I was going to say, GRUB bootloader is Linux.

And whatever your source of the x64 disc, there's no reason to have to use a Linux bootloader to jump through hoops when the same X86 key you have on the bottom of your laptop will work perfectly fine and is licensed for use on that same edition in x64.

I'm willing to bet that you used the "Vista Activator" because you don't have a legit copy of Vista.

If I'm wrong I apologize.......however I've tried the activator to see how it works and those are the same exact screens I got.

If he has Home Premium and wants Ultimate, he'll need to pay for the upgrade.
