    Hi -

I can stream my Inspiron video to my tv via the SVHS output. But I cannot get the sound and there does not seem to be a place to plug in anything that would carry the sound. HDMI port gets neither picture nor sound. The computer manual seems to be saying I need some sort of special device/cable. Can anybody help me get both sound and picture. Just to make it more interesting :( the friendly folks at Geek Squad mounted the tv so I cannot get at the back panel. However, the full left-side panel is easy access and I believe that is where the computer needs to be hooked up for the sound. Please reply to my e-mail - [email protected]

I used to have an Dell Inspiron 1525, just use HDMI (get a HDMI cable on amazon.com for cheap) and you get high quality FHD video w/ sound. I also have a Sony Bravia that I used with as a monitor with VGA or HDMI (the VGA only supported 1920x1080 as a resolution).

HDMI to HDMI does not work at all (neither picture nor sound). The HDMI cable used is good with other components.

    The computer manual says:

    S-video TV-out connector – Connects your
computer to a TV. Also connects digital
    audio-capable devices using the TV/digital
    audio adapter cable.

It refers to the SVHS output. As I said in my last post, the SVHS connection gives me very good video off my computer, but no sound.

    What is a TV/digital
    audio adapter cable?

And how do I use it on my pc.

    HELP!!!!

I concur, you should try to get the HDMI to work if you can.

SVHS (according to Wikipedia) is a cassette format. I assume you are currently connecting your laptop to your TV with S-video, which is not supposed to carry sound.

What other ports are accessible on your TV? Do you at least have a component input?
