I have a Dell laptop out of warranty. The screens shows these 3 colors burned on the screen. (blue, purple, black)

The laptop was not dropped. I called Dell they took had me reinstall the video driver and that didn't work. She said it was the screen that was bad.

I called geek squad and they said it was the video card. After looking into a video card I found I need to replace the whole video card. I was hoping for some help on what the problem would be before I start spending money.

    Thanks in advance

I would say it's probably the LCD. Try connecting an external monitor to see if it also happens.

Also, what laptop is it, and what video card does it have?

That looks bad. If the colors don't change when you change the background, i'd say replace the screen.

    ^^That, also.

@OP..how is your warranty on your laptop? If it's defective, maybe you can work on resolve w/a replacement of the screen?

    Try connect the external monitor.
If the problem corrected, the LCD is having the problem, could be the inverter.
If the problem persists, the the video card is faulty.

Try reinstall the latest mainboard chipset driver, reboot, then reinstall the latest VGA driver.

    Hope this helps!
