I am looking at getting the Studio 14z at bestbuy tomorrow, its a pretty good deal for me since i dont need the upgraded screen and everything else is exactly what i wanted for a cheaper price.

Anyways I want he 3dmark06 performance numbers just to make sure it scores around 2000 like the xps 13 does with just the 9400. I know 3dmark isn't a game therefore u cant judge performance, but on an overall level its fairly accurate from card to card performance, though not always.

Ok I got my Studio 14z! Cherry red, i'll get some pics up tommorow to add to the picture section. It Scores 2055 in 3dmark06 running off the battery so its right around the same performance of the xps 13's 9400, only issue I have which i knew going into is the fact it uses system memory which 3 gigs is already low for vista, but getting a 4 gig stick isnt worth 300$ atm

Whats the specs, and dont ever upgrade ram when buying a computer off of dell because you could just order it for newegg about 80 percent cheaper.

Actually the price on Dell is pretty accurate. 1GB is soldered to the main board, leaving only one slot open for upgrade. 1 stick of 4GB DDR3 RAM goes for about $350. You still save by upgrading yourself, but you definitely dont save 80 percent.

Agreed; I doubt you'd save 80% by any manufacturer. I'd always recommend checking it out to see if you can save money, especially if you are buying a more expensive Sony or Mac; their upgrades can be outrageously priced. Even so, 80% is way out.

The other benefit which is often overlooked is the fact that you get to choose your RAM timings; although again lower latency will cost more, significantly more in some cases.
