Hello all. This board has been very helpful in the past and I would appreciate any feedback offered for my problem.

I just bought a Studio14z from bestbuy about a week ago. Everything is great, love the computer except....

It seems that and volume above 40% or so, and audio will skip, stutter, crackle and just generally sound terreble.

I have been around all of the boards and tried many fixes.... shutting of wireless, going back to the windows audio drivers, clean install of the OS.

The problem isn't the speakers... as the skipping and popping happen on headphones as well. It will also crack/pop on startup abd justrandomly now.

It's a brand new PC and I am at a loss as to what is wrong. Any suggestions?

This might be a hardware issue. You may need to return/replace it.

That definitely didn't happen to the Best Buy display model 14z I played with the other day. Might wanna call Dell and get them to replace your speakers.

Thank you for such a quick response. I might just bring it back to bestbuy today... I'm still on the 14 day return period.

I believe this is a common problem with the previous Studio laptops as well as the Latitude line. Some type of hardware defect.

I wouldn't say it's common. Neither of my two Studios, nor my friend's Inspiron, have audio skipping issues.
