Hi there,
My studio 15's been working brilliantly until yesterday.
For some reason the Light on the Power Button doesn't work when the screens tilted back past a certain angle. And when the light goes off the button doesn't work either. This hints at a loose connection.
I've taken off the plastic around the screen and had a fiddle with the wires and when i move one of the wires a little the light goes on. Which hints further at a loose connection. I've put the cover back on now and i'm not going to mess with it anymore.
My worry is that this problem will get worse with time and eventually I won't be able to turn the laptop on at all.
I've run dell diagnostics and no errors show up so i'm at a complete loss as to what the problem is.
Any help with this issue would be awesome.
Thanks.
Tom.

Well, when I was replacing my lid I found out that everything is soldered to everything. Also, there's a wire connecting the power button to the motherboard. That wire is under the media panel and the keyboard. I'd try removing the media panel and the keyboard, and then taking out and reinserting the wire. It's probably loose. Either that or it's crappy soldering. I'd try the first though. If it doesn't work, then I'd chat with not call dell tech support. To take off the media panel, unplug the battery, and unscrew two screws under the battery. Then pull the media panel up carefully, as it has a connector connecting it to the motherboard. Then unscrew the two screws at the top of the keyboard to take the keyboard off, and remove the black plastic frame around the keyboard, and then the keyboard itself. Then you should clearly see a wire connected to the motherboard with a white plastic end. If you follow it, it should go to the right and then go towards the hinge/power button. That is the wire to take out and plug back in. Good luck.

Awesome
Thanks for the reply,
I'll do that tomorrow as i'm too ill for 6th form (everyday equivalent of college) anyway. Actually look forward to taking things apart haha. Loved it with my PSP until i got annoyed with the speakers not working even with the new ones and re-soldering so i ripped the psp speaker port off of the motherboard haha, fun times
Thanks again for your help.
