I updated my video drivers using Mobility Modder & the latest catalyst drivers. 8.10 I believe.

I now have this issue is when I scale down to a lower resolution, lets say 1440 x 900, it will not scale up to the size of my screen, but rather keep the 1920 x 1200, and have within it my 1440 x 900 resolution and have this black area around it.

    any ideas? fixes? or experiences?
    I have a dell studio 1537.

On the stock drivers you can alter that in the Catalyst Control Center.

your monitor is suppose to work good/well only on its maximums resolution, in your case 1440x900.
    So don't worry...
I'm with 8.11 without CCC and everything is fine for me...
    In games too

    I'm using the maximum resolutiokn.
    1920 x 1200,

but when playing games, I don't want it to run that high.. and the only resolution that runs at full screen is 1280 x 800.

Update: Just tried the 8.11 drivers. no difference.

however the default shipped ATI drivers seem to work when scaling up from a non-native resolution.
