Will I be able to hear sound when I connect the Studio 15 to a HDTV?

I am a bit confused about that. As far as I know HDMI was developed so it could transport both video and sound but not every laptop is capable of sending the sound signal in the cable as well. Is this true?

Is it possible to upgrade the slot-in drive of the studio 15 with a blue ray drive later on? And will I be able to play blue ray movies then and connect the notebook to the TV and watch them there?

    Thanks in advance!

This should be the case with a Dell Studio 15. As it is a true HDMI out and not a DVI with adapter.

I will be hooking mine upto my Samsung HDTV when i get it home, and I will post to confirm that everything works dandy. :)
