Well i got my mine yesterday and im really happy :). It was worth the wait. Its got a really sleek look and all the features are great. Vista looks amazing on it. Backlit keyboard is sweet, the webcam is suprisingly very very good. Honestly it almost looks as good as regular point and shoots from 02'-03'. The fingerprint reader is great, although it doesnt work on FireFox but i hope they resolve that. Keyboard is comfortable to type on.

Hope you all receive your laptops soon, just be patient. I know that for a fact that's hard to listen to cause i was in your shoes just a week ago lol. But guys just fight it out.

congrats vrevo. may i ask you what the windows index score is of your laptop? I ordered a very similiar studio 15. I just have the C2D T5750 processor. ^^

also a question to all dell studio 15 owners w/ bluetooth. Can you use bluetooth headphones and listen to music via windows media player or any other music apps?

    thanks thanks. ^^

Yeah! I can finally say that I am an official Studio 15 owner. Finally got mine today. In fact I'm on it right now. Never had wireless internet access before so being able to carry this thing around and have the internet anywhere is pretty cool. So far so good. Feels a little hot on the palm rests, but other than that can't complain...yet. Need more time with it to say more.

I've been having problems with the fan, anyone could tell me why does it turn on the whole time???? I've got the T9300, and so far I'm hating my laptop, it turns the fan on and it's really loud.
I installed Vista x64, and I've been having lags and really weird slow downs (keyboard, touchpad), this happens, everytime I watch something in YouTube, you guys care helping me?

    Thanks,

    Rafa

rafucho, I wish I could help, but I wouldn't know the first thing about installing Vista 64. As for the fan, the only thing I can suggest is contacting Dell. I don't think the fan should be that loud.

That's too bad. Well, at least you know its definitely on it's way. Since it's so close, you should be one of their first stops tomorrow. The carrier must of had an overwhelming amount of packages that day and they couldn't get to all their routes in one day.

Now that I have spent a little more time on the laptop. I now realize that the Dell dock is useless and I hate the fingerprint reader. lol Took me about 10,000 tries to get it to read my fingerprint the first time to set it up. I was going to not register it at all, but I was afraid of someone using it by accident if I didn't at least attempt to put something on file. I worry about it malfunctioning over time when dirt and stuff collects on it over the years.

The build seems to be pretty sturdy. I've already accidentally dropped the laptop and it's still in one piece so I guess that's a good sign. I haven't noticed the "flex" that some have mentioned. I think you have to really press hard on the keyboard to see that. While putting in the disc it makes a slight noise, but my car CD player does the same thing so I don't think its anything to be concerned about. The palm rests do get quite warm though which I'm a bit worried about.

Hihi, yeah its just pure luck. I see that you ordered your studio 15 a few days before me. What specs did you choose?

really? That sucks. I opted to buy the finger print scanner. I hope mine works decently. Hihi. Oh well.

The fingerprint reader usually works first or second try for me.

And I am loving the laptop - my only complaint so far is the sound which I refuse to use. I just plug in my speakers. I didn't realize it could be so bad. But really everything else about it is great.

3gb ram, 320gb HD, 2.0ghz, ATI video card, and no fingerprint reader or backlit keyboard since backlit keyboards delay extra 12 days :p

    Hey Guys,

What about the 1440x900 Led Panels?

    Are they good or not?
Do they have the same problems of the XPS Led panel (vertical oblique lines) when moving images are displayed?

    Thanks

Videos are running flawlessly on my 1440x900. I was in awe when I saw the screen after using a 1280x800 lcd monitor that is about 5 years old. I didn't even realize how dull and yellow my old monitor was getting.

I would majorly have regret getting the non-lcd monitor.

I agree. I had my new laptop on my computer desk right in front of my old monitor for my desktop and I noticed how drab the colors were compared to the new screen. The colors now are so bright. 100% better!

    Guys,

    1) What abouth the height?

I read reviews that say the XPS M1530 is thinner... Is it true?

Because Dell Tech Specs say the contrary...

    Dell Studio:
    Height: 1.0" (25.3mm) front / 1.3" (33mm) back

    Dell XPS:

    Height: 0.93" - 1.38" (23.7 mm - 35.1 mm wedge)

    2) What about the Dell 1510 Wireless N card?
My girlfriend has an Inspiron 1525 with this card and she has signal strenght problems with standard wireless connections (b/g)...

    Thanks

I installed a DVD that I downloaded that has all the Vista versions with SP1, and you just have to enter your product key, and it detects if it's Home Premium or Business, etc. I got all the drivers off the Dell website with my service tag, I can get the Vista 64-bit drivers for the Studio 1535....
Please help... it's driving me crazy, I can't read DVD's or CD's, because when it comes to eject them, the laptop freezes... :(

I'm Italian and i'll be in the U.S. for 6 months (from October to April 2009):

    A) Will I have problems or not to call the american support?
    B) Will they offer me the same "in home" assistance?

wew, that is a pretty long delay. If its in the DHL facility near you, and they have attempted a delivery, you can pick it up with photo id.

DHL had my laptop at their facility for a few days, and when i asked them if i could just pick it up, they said, "we have to at least attempt 1 delivery".

Also be careful, i think Dell ships DHL signature preferred, not signature required. (at least in my case) They left my laptop outside my door, and i live in a new townhouse community. There are quite a few construction workers around, and its kinda scary having a 900+ investment lieing outside. =( So if you aren't home when your delivery is scheduled, make sure someone is just to be safe. ^^

I've contacted them every single day since the day Dell shipping my laptop which was on the 24th and they said there was like a mis-scan on the item or something and basically they lost track of where it went and I asked again today when I would get it and they said I must wait for them to email me within 24 hours...... Its not like they attempted delivery and I wasnt home, its more like its "still in transit..." for over 4 days now and I had gotten the 2 day shipping lol.

Oh how ironic...i made the mistake of not getting the free 2nd day shipping (i got the regular 3-5 day free one instead). somehow DHL got it here one day after it arrived in TN. Loving my Studio 15!!! To all those who are still waiting...definitely worth waiting for.

I don't see why people think the 1510 wireless-n card is so awful.

It works great in my house. Maybe it's just that my ISP gave me a really good router(verizon fios)? I can go on my porch and I get a strong signal(around 15 yards away from the router), it even works in my driveway which is about 30 yards away from my router.

Maybe your internal antennas are well positioned... or u are using the N protocol (u know that it is 2-3 times more powerful than the 802.11G...)

Anyway my girlfriend with an Inspiron 1535 and a wireless card Dell 1510 has a signal strenght of 4/5 at 5 meters (5 yards) using my D-Link DSL G624T wireless router (G Technology)... at 15 yards (outside the house with the door open) loses the signal...

I did the same "test" with my old XPS M1530 that had an Intel wireless card and i lost the signal at 30 meters/yards...

Well, I am the proud owner of a black studio 15 as of last week! Thanks to it, and am now a member of this website as well...

I'm definitely impressed so far. It's been treating we well for the last week. Also, it's my first machine with Vista, and I think I am starting to like it! It's funny because I swore never to use Vista when it came out and my dad had it, but I've changed...

My specs are in my signature. Also, for you fingerprint reader bashers out there...I love mine! The included software makes it so much better. I love being able to use passwords without remembering them all the time...So in other words, it's totally worth it.

There's a ton of these in the Outlet store now, around 500 when I ordered mine, in case anyone wants one soon. I also noticed a lot of previously ordered new machines incase people are wary of refurbs.

    T5750 @ 2.0 GHz
    4GB RAM
    250 GB HD
    256MB ATI Radeon HD 3450
    LED Screen
    Backlit keyboard
    Bluetooth
    Vista Home Premium

    $938 shipped+taxes

I figured I saved about $300 by going through the Outlet.

It'll be here next week, I'm excited.

It says g on the wireless fios router, but I can go 11 or 12 yards away to my porch(door closed) and I have 4/5 bars, and then another 6 or 7 yards to my driveway and I still have connection.

    thats the router I have

    I believe in you :)

Probably you have two positive conditions:

    1) A very good wireless router;

    2) Antennas inside your laptop are very well placed.

I had to go back to the Vista x86 installation :(
No workaround for the DVD eject problem under x64 Vista!

Guys... write to Dell to get a new Bios release...

Who has 4GB must have the possibility to install Vista 64 without issues...

Does Vista x64 not play well with the Studio 15? Mine is coming Wednesday and I was planning on sticking x64 on it.

I wouldn't recommend doing that, before they update the drivers at Dell.com, and I certainly would wait for an updated BIOS....
I installed it 3 times, and the three times I got the problem with DVD eject, WLAN drivers, the last time I installed the WiFi drivers for the latitude series (Dell Wireless-N 1510), but after installing the audio drivers, you get lock-ups, and not mentioning the drive problem. So, stick to Vista x86 for a while, I resigned... :(
    Take care!
