    Hello,

I received my studio 15 (which i will be sending back to get a replacement btw).

I ordered a Core 2 Duo T5750 processor but when I look in the properties, it says that the processor is T5800. Is there a difference between them? Just want to know that I got what I paid for.

    Thanks!

    Hi,
I also ordered a T5750 Studio 15 and got a T5800 one instead. The T5800 is slightly (read very slightly) better than the T5750 because it has a 800MHz Front Side Bus as opposed to the T5750's 667MHz. Since everything else between the two processors is the same (2.0GHz Clock speed, etc), you probably won't notice any difference between the two.

    Hope that clears things up.

Yeah it is a little bit better. I'm guessing Dell is keeping low stocks on that processor as it tries to phase in the newer CPUs/Chipset.

Currently, the Studio 15's entry-level processor is the Pentium Dual-Core T3200 (2.0GHz/667MHz FSB/1mb L2). The first upgrade choice is a the Core 2 Duo T5800 (2.0GHz/800MHz/2mb L2)- which shares the same specs (and performance) as the older T7250.

The T5750 you originally ordered falls between the T3200 and T5800. The T5800 is the best of the three, but the performance of each is very similar.

Did you choose the ATI Radeon Mobility HD 3450 graphics card or the Intel integrated? If you chose the Intel, did they send you the GMA X3100 or the newer GMA 4500MHD?

Mind if I ask why you're sending it back for a replacement? Just curious....

Hmm I haven't checked the Intel graphics.

I'm sending it back because of the following:

    1. First day I got it, I kept getting the BSOD whenever I started up the laptop.

    2. Sometimes the laptop wouldn't even boot, it would just make a bunch of beeping noises.

The "tech support" at Dell couldn't help so they will send a new laptop as replacement. Hopefully that one will be ok.

I had similar problems with my Studio 17 and after some advice from members here I realized that the replacement laptop would not have the 21 day return period so I canceled the exchange and decided to do a straight return and reorder. Even though its unlikely anything will be wrong with your 2nd laptop, just be sure you know that you will be stuck with whatever they send you next....
