It's an interesting design. I think I like it... :D

The edge-to-edge display is really nice looking! I'm impressed that it's 1440x900 resolution, rather than the more common 1280x800. The 1440x900 LED display is a $125 upgrade on regular Studio 15 models, so the $799 price of the Special Edition seems like a good value.

Not just a good value on the screen, but this finish just looks nicer in general. It's much nicer than the cheap gray plastic palmrests on the regular models.

Too bad they didn't update the graphics card to the new ATI 4000-series. That would really have made it a 'Special Edition'....

I wouldn't be surprised if this is just a maneuver to clear out stock of old 1535/1537 components leading up to the release of the 1555. Nothing in this unit is special except the shell.

Nice but beware of poor build quality and/or problems that have plagued the regular Studio 15's.

It seems that Dell is abandoning the 14.1" consumer notebook market. They offer 14.1" models in their business notebooks (Latitude & Precision), but the Inspiron 1420 is being phased out (and has been obsolete for the last year or so).

Dell has a 14.1" Studio model (1435) in some markets. Inexplicably, they don't offer it in North America. Take a look- LINK
