It's an interesting design. I think I like it...
The edge-to-edge display is really nice looking! I'm impressed that it's 1440x900 resolution, rather than the more common 1280x800. The 1440x900 LED display is a $125 upgrade on regular Studio 15 models, so the $799 price of the Special Edition seems like a good value. -

Too bad they didn't update the graphics card to the new ATI 4000-series. That would really have made it a 'Special Edition'....
-
, the biggest thing i wanted was all black and now they come out with the studio xps and the special edition, both all black.

To bad it doesn't ship tell March 24th.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is just a maneuver to clear out stock of old 1535/1537 components leading up to the release of the 1555. Nothing in this unit is special except the shell.

Very nice design ....
-
Nice but beware of poor build quality and/or problems that have plagued the regular Studio 15's.
-
the design is rock ireally likes it ah why they didn't update the graphics card so that ill buy it
also why all new releases 15 or 13 where is 14 inches?? -
Actually it's been availi on Dell's site since at least 2/18/09! They must've been trying to keep it on the *low down*

Dell has a 14.1" Studio model (1435) in some markets. Inexplicably, they don't offer it in North America. Take a look- LINK -
... I want this design
