    Hi all,

I am thinking about upgrading my Studio 1535 OS. It came with the Home Premium and although the sales rep said it was 64 bit,it is actually Home Premium 32 bit.

I want 64 bit and am curious about the drivers for the upgrade. If I get the Ultimate 64 bit and do a clean install, will it install the correct drivers for my 1535? Including the 1510 wireless-N, Fingerprint scanner, ATI Mobility 3450 graphics card?

Or do I need to hunt down all the drivers for it first?

    Has anyone done this yet?

Any replies, info or suggestions welcome!

    Regards,
    PepperHead

True you can't "upgrade" but you can do a clean install.

He basically made it seem like it wasn't possible to have a 64 bit OS on my system. Not knowing enough about computers, I believed him.

So I CAN get 64 bit, but I need the right drivers. Is that what the deal is?

Yes you absolutely can run Vista 64. I am running it right now on my Studio 1735. You'll just need to download all the drivers for Vista x64 from the Dell support site; it would be wise to do this before installing vista and putting them on a memory stick or CD in case your network driver isn't available straight after installing windows.

OK thank you. Here is another question. Can I get a copy of Vista 64 for free and use my key to run it? I currently have Vista Home Premium.
