Hello everyone
Some of you may have noticed an old thread which I started regarding the wi-fi catcher on my Studio 15. In a nutshell, since day 1 this has not worked for me. Its flashed happily but never found any networks, but then when I booted up it found wi-fi and connected fine.
After much messing around with Dell, being told I needed new hardware etc etc, I finally discovered it was because my machine was specced with 4GB of RAM. I tested this by temporarily removing 2GB and the catcher worked as it should. I told Dell this and finally, they believed me. All along I said to them a new BIOS revision was needed - after many conversations they believed me.
Anyway, I'd like to report that they sent me a new BIOS version, X41 (I was previously on A05) and it works a treat. I will be reporting this back to Dell in a day or two (once I'm happy it is stable) and they'll be putting the bios up on their site.
The only thing I haven't tested is the catcher in areas where I know there is NO wi-fi available, so maybe I need to find a lead box![]()
So if you have a s15 with 4GB, keep an eye on these forums as I'll post and let you know.
I'm so glad this problem is resolved as its gone on for months!!!
Thanks
Kai![]()

Awesome! I noticed the problem on my Studio 15, but didn't complain as I rarely use the WiFi catcher feature. Nice to hear they have it resolved and we'll get that fix soon.
