I was surprised that i couldn't find anyone else who had asked this question for this model:

Can you customize the media button to bring up a different player (like windows media player) instead of dell media direct. I deleted dell media direct (who ever uses that anyways?!) and was hoping i could set that button to automatically open WMP. dell was worthless in helping me figure out a way to do that... anyone here know? i couldn't find it in quickset preferences and such.

P.S. the play/pause, next, prev buttons work fine with WMP, so its just the one on the far left that opens the program i'm concerned with.

I don't know but I would assume that they would pull up whatever the default player/app is for that particular button. I just wiped out my studio 15 a couple days ago.

I was too excited to play with my studio when I got it to wipe it out.

I'm sure it's possible. Lemme see if I can dig up a thread I remember that might be useful.

OK, don't hold me responsible for anything you do to your computer, but this and this might be of interest. :)

    Guys,
Which app have you set your media direct button to launch please?
I have a studio 15, and I followed the guide to make it boot windows media centre. It doesn't work, nothing happens. Just wondering what I'm doing wrong, I followed the guide to the letter.
I've de-bloated mine and tweaked it but its still vista 32. The machine only has 1 partition now with now media direct, don't know if this is the issue.?
    Thanks.
