The last couple of times I have booted up my Studio 15 laptop, it takes longer than usual to load, and then when it finally does, I can't get any programs to load. I had to force restart it, and when it booted again, I had the same problem. I finally got it to shut down normally, but the same problem is occurring when I power it up again. Has anyone else had this problem?

No I have not had that problem... yet (lets hope never). what are your specs. Have you installed any programs that might make it slow down? You could always do a fresh install of Vista.

fastest & easiest way to try and fix this is try to use system restore. and restore the system to a date when you are sure you did not have the problem.

I vote for fresh install of vista...My S15 was freezing about every day or every other day and since my fresh install (probably two weeks ago) things have been running smoothly.

I can not even get my start menu up, I boot it up and my dell dock and side bar come up however once I try to bring up my start menu or internet or anything else for that matter....the hourglass comes on my computer will freeze, I can not do a system restore or clean install because I can not access anything on my laptop without it freezing up.

You can't shove the OS disc in and turn the computer off?

Sorry I am not that knowledgeable about computers I though in order to use that disk you had to be able to use your mouse and such and since I can not click or bring anything u I was unsure about that...

You need to put the disc in, restart the computer, hold f12, boot from disc, then install the drivers which are on another disc(that came with the computer). I'm not a computer whiz either I just did my first clean install two weeks ago :)
