Is it possible to replace my studio 1536's motherboard with that of a 1535 or 1537?

It certainly is. Another member here, JohnByeBye, did exactly that; he replaced his 1536's motherboard with that of a 1535. ;)

Yeah, JohnByeBye was not impressed with the AMD-based 1536. Just make sure you get the motherboard with the ATi 3450 graphics card, because the 1535 also has a different motherboard with the Intel X3100 integrated graphics.

For the record, you can also swap it for a 1537 motherboard, which is what I would do if I were you. The 1537 is also Intel-based, but on a newer platform (Intel Montevina w/PM45 chipset) than the 1535 (Intel Santa Rosa w/PM965 chipset). The 1535 can use up to 667MHz RAM and 800MHz FSB processors; the 1537 can do 800MHz and 1066MHz RAM and FSB, respectively.

Just here to say that Mastershroom is correct in his posts. :D

I sold my 1536 Motherboard on ebay for 80 bucks. You may be able to get more since they are extremely rare.

Also, you will have to purchase a new heatsink for the Intel motherboard, the AMD heatsink is not compatible.

If you plan on getting the ATI HD3450 graphics then this is heatsink that will you need:
