I really want to get a laptop because my mom is going back to school and when she is home will be using this desktop. I have heard that dell is really good and lasts a long time. I'm 17 ,girl and love the color idea. I will be carrying it everywhere I can use it. I want a 15.4 inch screen.
Here are the specs of a Studio 15 I was thinking about getting:
PROCESSOR Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T5750 (2.00GHz/667Mhz FSB/2MB cache)
OPERATING SYSTEM Genuine Windows® Vista Home Premium Edition SP1
SYSTEM COLOUR Spring Green
LCD Glossy, widescreen 15.4 inch display (1280x800)
INTEGRATED WEBCAM Integrated 2.0M Pixel Webcam
MEMORY 3GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 at 667MHz
HARD DRIVE 250GB SATA Hard Drive (5400RPM)
GRAPHICS CARD Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100
OPTICAL DRIVE 8X Slot Load CD / DVD Burner (Dual Layer DVD+/-R Drive)
WIRELESS CARD Dell Wireless 1510 802.11n Half Mini-Card
BATTERY OPTIONS 9 Cell Battery
SOUND OPTIONS High Definition Audio 2.0
Is this a good choice?
If there is anything else you need to know just ask.![]()
Thank you![]()

If you just want to listen to music, look at pictures and surf the web it's a great laptop. If you want to save some cash downgrade the 802.11n wireless card, unless you have an N wireless router at home. I would suggest keeping the 6 cell battery, on Power Saver mode I can get around 3 hours under basic task. With the money you saved from these two things I'd suggest upgrading the video card, the integrated x3100 will slow things down a lot under various task.

Okay Thanks. And I do have a N wireless router at home. But I'll think about downgrading the 9 cell to the 6 cell.
Can I use the laptop like plugged in the wall? Like not use a battery sometimes and just use power from the wall?
Thanks -
The battery will need to stay in your laptop at all times to power on, but yes. The laptop will charge when it is plugged into the wall, and it is usable. It will charge while plugged in, and stay maxed out if you keep it plugged in.

I would stay with the 9cell battery. Probably u will increase the time from 2.5 to 5 hours. Probably the next year you are going to be at college (if not now) So...having the 9cell bat, will help in case that you're doing a project and don't have a plug near you. And also the glossy screen in the outside would make you increase the screen brightness.
Also upgrade the video card, will make everything run better. -
Well thank you so much all of you. To ejsella i will be going to collage in sept of 09 but ill be living in my own place and it will have plugs. im going to upgrade the video card.
thank you all! -
You have chosen almost same as my wife's new Studio (Girls must like Spring Green!! If you want pics, see my sig).
I had a better CPU (My geeky influence), 6 cell battery and dedicated graphics. Except for very very poor speakers, I am in general happy with Studio. (and Inspiron speakers cant be much better anyway) -
I actually saw your thread and i love the pics thanks!(DDGuy)
Could you take a pic of the design that people keep saying they dont like? -
Hey PoP...I am in office now and so this thread doesn't load pictures (pic host is blocked) but if my memory serves me right there was one pic in there which did show the now infamous "spilled and dried milk" pattern
....In my view its not so pronounced and I can live with that.
If not, I will post some pic when I get back home tonight -
hi, pop in reply to ur original question- of cos u shd get the studio! it looks so much better and it doesnt cost alot more!
it also doesnt make sense for u to buy a older version laptop when a new one has come out
oh by the way.. i suggest u buy the laptop from dell.us, as it is quite a bit cheaper there, i got mine there for jsut over 1000 USD, and they are giving out this trubuk or something messenger bag for free, which actually looks quite good!
oh i got the graphite arty design thing for mine because i dont like solid color laptops! but if u want solid colors i have seen the jet black studio laptops and they look very professional, u might wanna think about that..
finally, i suggest u get the 6 cell option but get the 1440x900 WLED display instead apparently it looks alot better and will save some batteries too =D
hope this helps you -
Thank you all so much!
Studio 15 or Inspiron???
