Going to college next year, and I'm in a tough spot. If i get the Inspiron, I can get Intel WiFi Link 5100 802.11 Wireless-N Mini Card, 4 GB of ram, and Intel® Core 2 Duo P7450 processor, and stay under my budget. If i get the Studio 15, I would have to get the Dell Wireless 1397 802.11g Half Mini-Card, 3Gb of Ram, and the Intel® Core 2 Duo T6600 processor to stay under budget. Basically my question is, is it still worth it to get the studio 15 if i can get a better processor, 1 more GB of ram, and a better wireless card in the inspiron 15?

In reality, there will be no perceptible difference in performance between the T6600 and P7450 processors. Both the RAM and wireless card can be easily upgraded in the future. So I wouldn't let either of those determine my choice.
The Studio 15 has a few features not found on the Inspiron 15- 1-eSATA/USB port, HDMI port, Firewire port (IEEE 1394) and a significantly better sound system (much better speakers + a subwoofer). The Inspiron 15 has glossy black trim all around the keyboard (including the touchpad and palm rest area) and the display bezel. It's a fingerprint magnet, in my opinion. I prefer the Studio 15's metallic-looking silver/gray trim instead.
If you're in the U.S., have you seen this configuration of the Studio 15 for $699 (including 4GB RAM, 500GB 7200rpm hard drive, Intel-N wireless and several other upgrades)- LINK -
