I'd like to know your thoughts because of the massive price difference between systems A and B on the Dell UK website (26 Nov 2009). Is a Studio XPS 16 really worth paying almost double, or would it be better to get a faster processor in a Studio 15 and still save nearly £300?

 

Depends on what you intend to do with it. If you game, the Studio XPS would be better simply because of the superior graphics card. If not, then you might as well save and upgrade the Studio 15 some more.

 

Thanks mastershroom. Just checked the Dell UK website again, and it appears that they may be offering a discount on the Studio XPS 16 after all...

Nah it's not heavy. It's sexy though.

 

I carry my SXPS1640 (with 9-cell battery) around to class all the time. It's probably not as light as a 10" notebook, but it hasn't been an issue for me. =)

 

at the risk of sounding like a commercial, I'd get the XPS16 if you want the best video card from dell short of AW, and if you crave style and craftsmanship. ^^

i look at the studio line as the cadillac....studio 15 is still a GM, but it's a chevy. =D

P.S., if you got 40$, get the leather

 

is that dell.uk? cause if it is check under laptops - xps deals, same xps 16 you can get for 1290Ł
edit: acutally it depends, you didnt write anything abot OS and warranty, i wrote the price with default warranty and win7 home premium

 

The XPS 16 will have a better build than the Studio 15.

I decided to go for the Studio XPS 16 with the i7 720 processor, 16" Black Leather LCD, and Windows Home Premium.

As I do a lot of travelling, the warranty I went for was three years (next day on site) hardware support + accidental damage, just in case...

System price £1,289 (Total cost with warranty £1,588 )

ETA of Jan 6th 2010 (at the moment)

 

Wireless & broadband card
Sorry to hicjack this tread.

i am interested in the XPS 16 (i7) as well in the Uk, but there does not appear to be ioptions to add on a wireless n wifi card, it only seems to go up to g. any reason why?.

Additionally there does not appear to be options to add a wireles broadband as well. Have people been able to configure or add these things to their xps?
