I've had my Dell Studio 15 (1535) for nearly a year now, problem free. But last night, my touchpad moving extremely choppy, and my CPU/RAM meters (on Vista) were at nearly 50%, sometimes even spiking higher; I've never seen them that high before.

Here's what was going on when it happened. I was using Facebook Chat, which I don't believe was the problem, but what I believe started it was when i tried to turn up the volume using the touch sensitive media keys at the top, and hit play on iTunes. When i went to turn the volume up, it froze for about 30 seconds, and then turned the volume all the way up, and now none of my media keys work, my keyboard barely works, and my touchpad/mouse buttons don't work at all!

I've tried starting in Safe Mode, where the mouse still will not work, but my keyboard usually does.

I'm at a complete loss, and have no idea what to do, can anyone help?

If you need more information, please, feel free to ask.

    Thanks,

    Joe.

PS: I can get the cursor to move with a USB mouse, but not perfectly.

Maybe its a virus, trying running spyware and antivirus and see if it detects a virus. You can also try cleaning out your vents to get rid of dust because maybe its high temps.

Good luck and let us know what happens.

I have had the touch sensitive controls die completley on mine too, and today it took me several boots into Vista Home Premium to get the Touchpad to start.

By your keyboard barely working do you mean that it starts typing on its own, and missing keystrokes?

I would call up Dell.......

I'm not even bothering to fix it as it is already getting replaced.......

You might want to try the X0D firmware update posted in the Studio 15 Media Sensitive Button Problem thread.

Is your Studio 1535 one of the earlier builds? I had an early build that had the same symptoms. Dell eventually replaced. I think these problems are due to mobo flex. Does your fan go crazy sometimes?
