I am having a problem with putting my machine into standby/sleep.

    1. The FN+F1 button to put the pc into standby does not work. The FN+F3 to access the battery meter also does not work but the FN+F10 to eject a disc does work

    2. When I close the lid my computer often does not go into standby, rather the screen turns off and then it just stays at that point(by often I mean it works correctly maybe 3 out of 10 times). When I reopen the lid it returns me to the sign in screen. When my PC was new it did not do this but I have not changed anything except installing Firefox and Microsoft office

pressing the power button does work to put the computer into sleep mode if that is what it is assigned to do under power options.

    any ideas?

Quickset manages the function keys special functions, so you may want to uninstall and then reinstall. Something may have gotten corrupted.
