I've narrowed my laptop choices down to Studio 15 and Inspiron 13. I've heard a lot about the Studio and its problems but nothing about the Inspiron. But before I make my final choice I want to weigh the pros and cons of each system and go from there. so, what are the pros and cons of each and which would you recommend?

Well the reason behind that is most likely since the number of studio owners>inspiron 13 owners. Inspiron 13 is smaller, more portable, studio is heavier, less portable. Studio has a backlit keyboard, and fingerprint reader, inspiron doesn't. They both have webcams. The case on the inspiron easily absorbs oils from the skin as shown in the NBR review. Neither get too hot.

I would be torn between both. But, if right now I had to choose ~ since I already have a 15.4", I would go for the I13 probably!
It's all on personal choice..and I'm sure those owners that have the S15 and the I13 already...will come forward with some great insight for you!
Good luck, either way you will be making an excellent choice!!!

I was in the same boat as you but the deciding factors for me were that i could get the same configuration for 180 less by getting the studio 15. (i got mine for 510). Plus the larger screen always helps and it still is light and portable at the same time. Now i find out that the studio 15 also has esata built into the top usb port on the left side! that is really cool in my opinion.
I have had nothing but pleasure with my studio thus far. -
The S15 would be more powerful than the I13. You have ability to get dedicated graphics in the S15 too. It just comes down to portability as well.

I wonder if OP should check out the pics you provided of your 3 lappys?
For a differential look!!!

^ That is true; there is a periodic small popping noise when you're listening to low-volume audio, and when there is no sound, you hear a lot of background noise.
Are there any... serious issues with the model? -
so, there's noise...even when the volume is all the way down?
-
I wish that I would have gotten the 13. Carrying this 15 around campus sucks and it doesn't fit in some of my old laptop cases

oh ok, 'cause that would have been weird if it did make noises with volume all the way down

I just ordered the S15 myself. Got 4GB of RAM and the 320G HDD. I was in the same boat as you with trying to decide but I went with the S15. Just seems to be like a better computer. And the screen is perfect! I have an inspiron 1501 that im on now and its perfect for me. Windows Vista runs great and I just put 2GB of Ram on it. I cant wait to see what the quickness of 4GB has to offer. Go with the Studio! Its an awesome looking laptop!

Does anyone know about " endorphin"? Its a 3D animation program. Do you think that the dedicated graphics that come with the studio could run that program?
woot, now I'm a notebook enthusiast!:laugh:lol

I've never owned one of the Studio models, so I can't speak to those, specifically. I have owned machines in that size range before, though. The most obvious difference between these machines is the size. To me, 13 inch is the sweet spot for notebook computers. It's large enough to get work done, but small enough to carry around daily.
I've owned an Inspiron 13 for a little over a month. So far, it seems like an excellent notebook. It's quick, small and seems durable enough. So far, it hasn't given me any problems.
Admittedly, I'm not someone who really pushes a laptop to its limits, though. So, as long as it handles the basics (web, mail, music, light video encoding), I'm good. I wouldn't expect to do any heavy gaming on this machine. -
any more views on either laptop?
