I've got a process running that I haven't noticed before. Either it hasn't used much memory in the past (which is why I didn't notice it) or it hasn't remained running very long until now. The process in Task Manager is displayed as "AtService.exe" and the description is AFSS Service.

When I click on Go To Service, it links to AuthenTec Fingerprint Service. The Process is using 21,340K of memory at the moment. I keep an eye on anything over 10,000K, so that's how I noticed it.

I also have another process called "DpHostW.exe" running for DigitalPersona, which is also related to the Fingerprint Reader...I think?!

Are both of these necessary for the FP Reader to function properly? Any idea why the "AtService.exe" is suddenly on the radar and using that amount of memory?

    Thanks!

short answer YES. One is the monitoringservice, the other is the configuration app. Removing either may cause your reader to stop working within windows.
