Laptop was in backpack and backpack dropped on the ground. Both monitor hinges are now cracked, and the screen only shows lines when I try to boot up.

Does anyone know where I could get repair parts/manuals for this model?

YouTube - Dell Studio laptop display assembly replace

I know its not the same model but there built similar.

You could scout out on ebay for the right parts, but before you go and replace the monitor make sure its not just unplugged from the motherboard.

If you decide to take the laptop apart take some scotch tape (any tape really) and mark on the tape where they go, so you don't forget.(an old computer tech trick :p)

thanks. I took the laptop apart last night, turned out that the actual metal hinge was still ok, only the plastic cover was cracked and the connectors were loose.

I re-tightened the connectors and now everything works! This Dell is actually a lot easier to service than my thinkpad.
