i got mine in july and then in september the screen suddenly just went blank and the whole laptop just died. It wouldnt turn back on and so Dell replaced the motherboard. Laptop came back and worked fine. But then all of a sudden it kept cutting out randomly again but would switch back on. But then on saturday it cut out and now wont turn back on again. So will have to be sent off again now!

Anyone heard of this problem before? Getting very anoyed by it

Also sometimes the speakers just wont work at all and the CD drive button stays on and keeps trying to eject a disc even if there isnt one in there!

If so many systems are affected, it is most likely the motherboard.

It may be power surges (or something of that nature) that are degrading the laptop to that point. You may want to ask if they will replace the power supply / battery when they replace the motherboard (again).

    Regards,

Do you have your notebook plugged into a surge protector or straight into the wall?

I had had my power adaptor just plugged straight in the wall.

Would this be due to lots of gradual power surges then? or just at the time when it stops working? Cause it has blown the mother board at 2 different adresses now. So is that pointing the fault at the power adaptor?

    cheers guys

After two I would ask them to replace the power adapter as well.

Ok well dell engineer came out today spent hour and half fitting new mother board brought new power adaptor and it was all working fine.

He then goes i will just shut it down and restart it....well it starts to turn on then after 3 seconds it decides to power it self off.

So he gets on the phone to the office who say that the new motherboard must have a fault with it but as its 6pm at night cant get another one until thursday. So got to wait another 2 days now!
