    Hi there,

My aging Dell Studio 1535 (first generation Studio which was released in the Spring/Summer of 2008) has been having some display problems lately. Last week, the screen would have vertical lines of different colors showing up on the screen, and it would take a few screen adjustments (opening the screen wider then readjusting) to get it to work properly. Every time I closed the screen and opened, it would have an issue and the readjustment would be required.

As of yesterday, readjustments don't even help with the screen and it always shows some horizontal lines or other artifacts. Basically, I can only use it with an external monitor b.c the screen is totally unusable.

I tried reseating the display cable but to no avail. What else could be wrong with my laptop that I might be able to fix? Is this a common problem with studio 15s? My warranty ended a long time ago, so would it be worth getting whatever I need replaced/fixed, or is it time for a new laptop?

    Thanks in advance!

check the display in BIOS if its same or not
check in F12 while performing the Diagnostics if the issue persist if yes then the lcd kit needs to be replaced
u can also give it a try to check with external monitor as well if the display is fine or not

If you're able to run the machine fine on an external display, then your internal display is most likely broken/defective. If you're under warranty, call Dell, if not, you'll probably have to replace the LCD on your own.

I've read this sort of advice a few times. Is there really no equivalent to statutory rights regarding durability in the US and Canada? In the UK you would stand a good chance of getting a refund/replacement if you experienced this problem, even with an expired warranty.

Can't help you but I've got a 1535 too (for about two years now I guess) and I haven't had any problems with the display up till now (*touches wood*). Good luck with it though.
