Hello guys. Does anyone know which SATA interface is used in Dell Studio 1535? Is it SATA 3 Gb/s? Can someone confirm this? The reason is because Intel Rapid Storage Technology states that the SATA Transfer Mode is "Generation 1", which should mean it's SATA 1.5 Gb/s. Don't think this is true since the laptop isn't that old to be using such an outdated interface. Thanks.![]()

Pretty sure it's 3.0Gb/s. All 1535s come with at least a 965 chipset which supports SATA 3.0Gb/s. Dell doesn't do the Lenovo capping thing either, so you should be able to make full use of the bandwidth if you have a fast enough drive.

Thanks a lot for the information! Guess Intel Rapid Storage Technology is reporting the wrong type of interface. Now I can safely go get myself a 500GB Western Digital Scorpio Black.

Just for the record, even if your machine did not support SATA 3.0Gb/s, you could still make full use of said drive. It comes close, but still doesn't saturate the older SATA 1.5Gb/s bus, even at the peak of its sequential throughput (about 110MB/s).

Sadly the Sata speed is topping at 150MB/s. I`ve an Intel 80GB SSD gen2 and the chipset is limiting its speed.
