Hello.I'm very sad to say.Whenever I play music, or any sound comes out of the notebook (both headphones or Speakers) , it is occasionally be crackle/pop.It happens very often/every time.
I saw in another thread about Wireless vs Sound Card conflict.
BUT MINE WIRELESS (Dell Wireless 1397 Wlan Mini-Card) IS b/g only!
Can't disable "802.11a" or "Disable Bands"!

    Please help...
or it is better to call for motherboard replace?

    Thank you :(

I had the same problem: There was no option to disable bands. The Intel wireless card fixes the problem (call Dell).

Can you please tell me - "What exactly to say (to Dell)?!"
New Intel Wireless Card or just to describe the problem?

By the way I turned off my Wireless/Bluetooth from the BIOS but the issue still persist!
Are you sure the Intel Wireless will solve the issue - If Yes - I will ask directly for Intel Wireless card!

    Thank you.
    sorry my bad english.

With turned off wireless, the problem still exists? Then, a different wireless card probably won't help. Are you absolutely sure, it was turned off? I used the switcher on the left side of the notebook. There was no crackle sound with turned off wireless.

I described the problem (including the fact that there is no option to disable bands) and said that I've heard that the Intel Wireless Card fixes the problem. But there are some users who received a link to a not yet released driver for the Dell wireless card instead, which often only makes the crackle sound appear less frequently.

    Welcome to owning a Dell.

I swear that EVERY DELL is affected by this nonsense.

I've owned a Vostro 1400, have a 1510 now and have used several other Dell's that are just INCAPABLE of playing simple audio...

"With turned off wireless, the problem still exists? Then, a different wireless card probably won't help. Are you absolutely sure, it was turned off?" - O.It was my mistake.Sorry.
Yesterday I tried with new Windows with Wireless and Bluetooth (they are on the same card yes?!) turned off - from the BIOS and from the Button.Without Wireless or Bluetooth driver.
And YES the issue was fixed - somehow.

You are right, and I guess my problem is the same.
I will call to Dell ASAP.
Thank you for your information and attention - KK2008
I hope Dell will agree to change my Wireless card, because my notebook is on 7 days and it is under warranty "Next Business day"

    Some news.
Today I spoke with Dell. Very nice guys. I must say the guy was very good with me.
I asked for "Intell Wireless" as kk2008 already told me.
The guy told me - "they can replace only with the same model wireless card."
    ...some Dell service rulles....
Now I'm waiting for new "the same" Dell wireless card (1-2-3 days delay)

If the problem still persist after the replace - I will call again and they will try on "high level" for solution (may be - New Intell 5300 card this way)

Anyway I hope my issue will be resolved - one or other way!

KK2008 - Are your issue was resolved after the replacement?

First, the technician replaced my Dell card with the same model, too (because for some reason they transformed the sound problem into a wlan disconnecting problem). Which, as expected, didn't fix the problem. Maybe you'll have luck and the option to disable band will appear...improbable. As far as I know, Bluetooth has nothing to do with the problem.
I told the technician that the Intel card fixes the problem, he called Dell and came again with the Intel card, which resolved the crackle sounds.

So unfortunately, you'll have to call them again. Good luck!

    VERY IMPORTANT.
KK2008 CAN YOU GIVE ME THE EXACT MODEL OF YOUR INTELL WIRELESS CARD?
On Vista you can check it - Start -> Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Device Manager -> Network adapters
I guess you are with/have Intel WiFi 5300... But just to be sure...

    kk2008 - Thank you.
I'm very thankfull to you.Thank you for your great advices and expirience.

I know - "So unfortunately, you'll have to call them again. Good luck!" and I told it to the technician.

But only Dell can choice what to replace...So I will give a try with "the same" card...

    Again Thank you.
I will keep you in touch (and all members) - here in this thread
