This is 1.5 years old Studio 1535 machine (out of warranty). When I log in now (past 1 month or so), I get a white dialog box saying thaa my battery is able to charge normally but its nearing its end of life. However for past 1 week or so, I see that the battery shows 0% charge and says "Not charging" even though the AC adpater is plugged in. Laptop works fine as long as AC power is on but the moment one removes it rightway goes to sleep.

Can some one tell me if this is a battery issue or a bad apapter? I dont want to order a brand new battery only to find that even that doesn't charge with my adpater?

Also isnt 1.5 years too short for a battery to die like this?

Also I bought the laptop in India but now I live in Singapore. Does it matter to Dell in providing any live chat support (today they are close)

    Wow...no response.

Do people here realize that all these fancy looking Dell Laptops that are preening over have a battery that will last under 18 months and then Dell will ask for a replacement cost that is outrageous. In my case Dell Singapore has quoted me a price that is 1/3rd the price of a new laptop !!! There is no way I am gonna spend that kind of money on a friggin battery. So ebay here I come !!

It's out of the ordinary for a battery to fail in that short of time. My inspiron 1520 battery still has 80% of its capacity and it is 3 years old.

My thinkpad's battery died after 18 months ... I was lucky, everyone else' died in around 13 or 14.

I have been using Thinkpad's at office for donkey's years. Never known one to have a dead battery. I can't believe how lousy a battery I got handed down :-( Something to ponder for new Studio buyers - buy a spare one now that you have a chance. I need a WU946 battery and when I search for it in Dell's website, its non-existent !!!

call dell tell them as a 1 time courtesy to swap batteries you get new refurbished battery, they get old one back.

or tell them and this always works, that it was a bad battery from a bad batch, they make thousands daily one of these got past quality control.

last option, blame dell's 3rd party battery co and say you will pay 50% for a new battery.
