New user here and hope I came to the right place for a little help.
I've had my 1536 for about 3 years, Running vista 32bit . Latley when I push the power button , My media lights ,light, my aux, fan starts but nothing else happens. I have tried using the wifi button and the media direct button. with no help. always the same . media and cd lights flash but nothing else happens. Then I let it sit in this state for 20 minutes to 1 hour , hit the power button it will shut off the aux fan then hit the power button and it all starts normally.. Any suggestions?
    TIA

Probably a dying motherboard... I've seen a lot of Dell AMD machines with similar problems in the past. If you're still under warranty get the board replaced before the warranty runs out?

Thanks for the response, Good thing I ordered a new Inspiron, Although I have really Liked my stuido, It has never given me problems and Never had a problem with vista. I cant seem to find a Dell service center near me , and the puter is long out of warranty. I would like to have someone check it out and get it fixed as I think there is still some life in it. as Im on it now, it just takes a little messing with and it finally starts up.

    I would try:

    - Testing your AC adapter with a multimeter and see if you get the correct voltages

    - Using a known good Dell 90 watt AC adapter and see if the problem persists

    - Removing the battery and AC adapter and holding down the power button for 30 seconds 2-3 times

After that sounds like as stated above, the motherboard probably has power circuitry issues.

I had a 1536 that did just as you described. Then all of a sudden nothing. I replaced the motherboard, cpu & fan with 1537 parts ( Intel stuff instead of AMD junk ). The computer has been better than new. Also when the motherboard failed it corrupted everything on the hard drive & I had to reformat & start from scratch. If you want I can give you all the important numbers or sell you the parts to help you convert it or I can buy your failing 1536 ( I have another 1537 that has a broken screen ). I'll try to remember to check this site daily for the next few weeks.

I still cant believe its a mother board issue . when this thing does come on it works flawlessly for hours on end . ( I am on it now) I do have a new inspiron so I don't have to have the studio , but it has been a good laptop and I hate to get rid of it.
But it is what it is. I'm no tech. Red , I would be interested in the parts and how much it would cost me.
