Hi, The screen on my Studio has started to switch off. The system is still on, so it seems to just be the screen. When I reboot, the screen works again for a short period of time. Sometimes it briefly flickers before going off. I've tried hooking it up to an external with an HDMI and the external screen goes off at the same time. This makes me worry that it's a motherboard issue.

I'm quite comfortable with taking my studio apart; I've frequently done so to replace thermal paste etc.

Any suggestions of things to try are most welcome.

    Thanks in advance.

I concur. Unfortunately if it is a motherboard issue, there's not much you can do short of replacing the motherboard. You could try replacing the CPU or replacing/reseating the RAM, but I doubt those are the issue.
