hey guys, i just received my brand-new studio 1555 in the mail today! so far it's amazing. but i just put a dvd in the dvd drive, tried to play it using powerdvd, and telling me that the dvd is for a different region...which it's not because i've played this dvd numerous times on my regular dvd player without any problem.

it's prompting me to change the region of the dvd drive in the computer in order to be able to play the dvd. did any of you have to do this when you received your studio 1555?

also, its the blu-ray drive read only. thanks!

EDIT: however, when i play the dvd in windows media player it runs fine...this is very strange

You'd be way better off without PowerDVD. If Windows Media Player can play it, then there's nothing wrong with your drive's region.

Get VLC media Player... Better than WMP.

PowerDVD IMO is crap software. VLC media player will play your DVDs and I think maybe even your bluray discs

ah i got it to work. it turns out there was an updated version of powerdvd available and in order to get it you had to open the program with no dvd in the drive.

i find the upscaling using powerdvd a ton better than either wmp or VLC and it's especially noticeable on my 720p 32 inch tv which is why i prefer to use it
