    Hi all,

Had the Studio since Wednesday and its great!

However, the power brick has started to make noises? A series of about 10 clicks in quick sucession repeated twice in a couple of seconds.

It will then go quiet for a while then do it again?

Its also pretty hot, too hot to touch for a while and its hot quickly - in about 10mins from cold.

Should I get a replacement or is this normal?

How do I go about getting it replaced? Sounds like its shorting or something?

    Thanks

Indeed, doesn't sound good. My Inspiron 1545 power brick remains relatively cool even after I've had the machine on for 8 or more hours.

Just call or use online chat to speak to a Dell tech rep; they'll be able to sort out a replacement

Just checked my old Toshiba power bricks and they too get pretty warm, same as this.

They don't click though, the heat I can live with but the clicking I don't like...

Yeah, but the more recent power bricks for the Dell models are slim and typically don't generate that much heat - as I said, I often have my notebook on for 8 hours or more and the heat from the power brick is so little. Besides, it's the clicking that is more concerning - just call Dell, I'm sure they'll just fire you another one out.

    Will contact Dell tomorrow.

Thought I would try plugging into a different socket and I haven't heard the noise since...

Cannot chat as my Service Tag isn't recognised. :( Will email I think...
