    Hi everyone
Was in Europe for a month and brought my laptop. Unfortunately the day I arrived I tried to start it up and all I got was a black/blank screen (though I can hear the fan/laptop "power up" like normal). What came next was a series of 6 high volumed beeps which would reset after the 6th beep and repeat. I've tried a bit of research and it seems to be linked to the motherboard or my GPU. I've swapped out my two sticks of RAM, put them in different slots, no changes (I wanted to swap out my hard drive but Dell sent me this 1555 as a laptop replacement under warranty; it's refurbished but one screw holding down the hard drive is completely torn up). Some people have advised swapping out the battery on the motherboard? I found this circular battery lookin' thing that says "CR2032 LITHIUM 3V, MITSUBISHI +". I guess this is the battery? Should I just yank it out or is there a trick involved?

And if this doesn't work (I'll try to buy a new battery tomorrow), are there any other tests/fixes I can try before giving up? Thanks in advance.

the battery should just pop out.

You can try re-seating the GPU and CPU since you have it open.

Its the GPU and its Dead.Your going to need a new motherboard since the ATI 4570 is built into the motherboard.

I have been through this twice with my 1557.

    Sorry to hear

    Ouch, that sucks :(

I just scrapped it in the end and bought a netbook to hold me over. I've had horrible luck with laptop GPUs. Maybe this is a sign for me to finally buy a desktop for gaming.

    Thanks and +rep!
