    Hi guys,

Had my studio 1555 since August 2009 and had problems from the outset. Had 2 screens replaced because of the flickering issue (And even now, this AUO struggles to display some dark colours properly).
Anyway, I've got another problem with the screen. This time it looks as if the keyboard grooves have marked it, but this is only visible when the laptop is turned on (meaning this is inside the screen) I've noticed the part behind the screen (In my case the microsatin finish version) is really very flimsy. It bends when you press the dell logo in the middle even slightly. Is this normal for a 1555, and could it be the cause of my screen issue?
Also, the hinges have become awful stiff, to the point I've had to loosen them and even now it's not made much of a difference. Could this be to do with the mysterious screen problem?

P.S. If anyone knew where to get a backlit UK keyboard I would be very grateful.

    Thanks in advance guys

hi, can u tell me the hardware id of your auo moniter? my studio also has a auo but it seems to be ok ... do u have the 720p or the 1080p?

my hinges also seem to be fine, but its a little flimsy. its hard to describe but if u try to close the screen, it gives way for a little distance before the hinges moves.

    Hi there,

It's an AUO20EC, and that's a 720p screen. And as for the hinges, I do get what you mean and this happens, however it's quite severe the stiffness of it when it does eventually move. I saw a 1555 in store (Although in saying that it had STUDIO in the top left of the display bezel, and SRS surround sound on the contol panel cover, new model?) and tried it there, it opens and shuts in the way mine did when it first arrived.
Dell want me to send it back via Collect and Return, which annoys me because I could replace the monitor myself - This part however isn't "user servicable"
