On the Studio 1555 do you think the backlit keyboard is worth the extra money?

I'm unsure as to whether I should get it or not.

    Thanks for the advice.

For only $25, it's a "must-have" option, in my opinion! When I bought my Studio 1535 last year, it was a $50 option and I still felt it was worth every penny!

I now have a Latitude E6400 with the backlit keyboard ($49) and I couldn't live without it!

I say GO FOR IT!

If you are on a budget, you could do without it. I mean it doesn't make your notebook faster or more energy efficient or anything.

However, if you can afford it then I say go for it. It's a nice feature that I wish they put into more of their notebooks.

At $25, I think it's a must-have upgrade as well. It's more convenient than you'd think; I have one on my E6400 and I wish I had one on my HP tablet as well. If you're short on cash now, you can always buy the standard keyboard and upgrade later, but this may be a more expensive option overall.

It is so worth the price. My Studio 15 originally came with the standard unlit keyboard, but I ended up just buying the part online and installing it myself.

    Go for it!

If I were getting a completely bare-minimum baseline Studio 15 and had the choice of any one upgrade, I would make it the backlit keyboard. I consider it essential on this laptop, and I wonder why they even offer the unlit one anymore.

Hey Shroom, when you were replacing your standard keyboard with the backlit one, may I ask how you snapped the tiny black plastic piece (that held the smaller power ribbon in place) back into position?

Mine keeps popping off, for some reason.

Maybe yours is just loose. Mine folded down and snapped shut over the cable quite securely.

It folds down? By "pop off," I meant mine literally pops completely off, with no indication that it wants to fold whatsoever.

Oh, well that's definitely not normal. That little tab is supposed to be on a hinge.
