I want to use the HDMI port of my laptop to display on the HDMI of my TV. I can display another laptop's screen on the same LCD TV through hdmi with no problems, using the same cable. I took the laptop to a friend's house and was able to show the laptop's screen on their lcd tv without problems using the same cable.
I am just stumped on why this particular laptop refuses to talk to this particular TV, even though the TV talks to other laptops and the laptop talks to other LCD TVs through hdmi.

The TV is a humax 40" LCD TV(Humax LP40-TDR1) with built-in hard drive for recording programmes on it and the laptop is a Dell Studio 1557
Please could anyone here help me with this. I have installed the latest video driver from Dell. Thanks

Could this be because of HDCP(High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection ) compliance ie that the TV is not HDCP compliant?

You did switch the TV over to the HDMI input setting right?

I know but I have to ask.

It was due to HDCP issue. I bought a box (HDMI HDCP to component converter) to place between the laptop hdmi and component of the LCD TV, and it worked, but picture quality was poor. I have heard a box like hdfury 3 will be better
