I have downloaded the drivers again, did Windows update etc. Still have a weird problem which I hope someone here has a suggestion for. Right now for example I am on Internet via a WiFi connection at one of my favorite public places. However, I keep on getting the error message Dell Mobile Broadband Manager Device Not Responding.

Driving me crazy. Don't know if there is really a problem or not. No trouble connecting online in most places. No problem at home either with my local family network.

    ANY ideas? Thanks.

Which particular mobile Broadband card is it? In all of the 1558's I've seen, there are separate cards for WiFi (WLAN) and Mobile Broadband/GPS (WWAN).

As I use Verizon service, I don't bother with any of the Dell Mobile Broadband stuff beyond the basic driver - I just use the Verizon/SmithMicro VZ Access Manager for mobile broadband. Persumably the other carriers offer something similar.

If your system also has separate cards and you don't use the mobile broadband or GPS functions, you can just turn the card off (in the BIOS or with QuickSet).
