    Hello All

I've just purchased a brand new dell studio 15 i5.

I'm pleased with everything so far apart from the screen!
When looking at block colours or lighter colours in particular. They fade slightly towards the bottom of the screen. I'm currently designing a menu and the light cream background fades to white at the base of the screen.. Not Good!!

I've had a dell technician come and replace the screen, to no avail. It must be the way they're made, un-even light distribution (my words, not the dell technician)?

Is anyone else frustrated by this, and is there a way of fixing it?

    Please help.

    Cheers Guys

    James Davis

1080p is not ridiculously good but it's good :) I have the 1080p version and it has pretty ugly color bleed. You only notice it with black background - its not disturbing or anything like that.

Those color variations depend on the panel being used. If one looks at several panels together, you'll notice the whites vary considerably as do the grays.
I suggest trying to get some calibration software, either free online or pay for something of quality like the Spyder series that range from about $89 to $249 depending on your needs.

You obviously didn't get a great screen then. Mine's great... I have a lot of screens. 5 LCD computer screens, 3 laptops, and 4 LCD televisions. My 1080p screen on my dell laptop is the best screen of the 12 in the house.

And that is a big minus for Dell, that lottery ...

You can get great screen or you can get average one, or worse.

I am sure everybody would pay extra, too be sure they get good stuff.

4 or more different panels ... and you wait too see what you get

If its true from what i read here on the forum.

    Thanks for all your responses.

I think Emtownsend' suggestion's probably the best. I'll definately be looking in to the colour callibration software.

    Cheers

Hehe it's more of a DELL issue than that specific screen :) I have DELL 24" 1920x1200 at home for extension monitor for my lappy and another one at office. Both of those big screens have the same color bleed issue that lappy screen has. It's specific to LCD screens and if You're saying You dont have any color bleed then I know You're lying :D
