Hello, im looking for a new laptop for my girlfriend.
The studio 15 caught my eye mainly because of the backlit keyboard and full hd screen option.

Do anbody have any experiences with this combination or atleast with the 4500 intel gfx card ?

She are mainly or only gonna use it for schoolwork, big excel sheets and movies so i guess its sufficient?

And whats the battery time with my choice, any info on that?

And last question: I found some nice setups on the german dell site, like the ones with a p-class cpu and the 4570 graphics. Do you think its any luck in contacting dell to get a downgrade on that or is it not possible?
I like the offer other than that, big harddrive, lots of memory etc.

Hello Mr.High-Pinger, basically the x4500 should be sufficient for the uses you mentioned.
In fact, working in an office environment mostly (word processing, spreadsheets etc.) benefits greatly from the high resolution screen.
I personally have the 1080p screen and always works with 2 pages of OpenOffice side-by-side and it's very convenient.
One thing to notice, about movies, is that the high resolution screen might become kind of a disadvantage, as SD content will simply not look good on it on full screen mode (or small on normal mode), and you'll have to use at least 720p content.
That being said, I'm pretty convinced the x4500 is able to hardware-accelerate such content, so you should be fine.
Bottom line, for the uses you mentioned, yes, the x4500 and the 1080p screen seems like a good configuration in my eyes.

Just had a chat with the dell reps, and you cant downgade the ati on a better machine for the intel 4500 :S

    they are trully lost.

But that leads to a followup question: how much diffrence is it between the ati 4*** series and the intel 4500 in terms of battery drain?
