Hey ya'll I got my luscious inspiron 1720 last july, and was wondering if anyone could compare it to a 17 out of curiosity.

I'm not looking for a new computer, if I get another soon it will be a mini 9, just curious about how far dell moves in a year.

if you mean compared to a studio 17, not much... the biggest hardware upgrade, is the new GPU, from nvidia to ATI. Most of the hardware remains the same till now (awaiting upgrades).
ohh did i mention the studio 17 looks different :p

a hd 3650 is not much of an upgrade, they are on par with each other.

I didn't think much was different, just had to find out. I'm more a fan of the nVidia cards myself.

This one is a surprising deal braker for me but hows the key board?

Presently the difference is in looks besides the ati card and HDMI port. The slot load dvd, the touch panel, backlit keyboard, finger print reader etc.. are available on Studio17 but not on inspiron 1720. Till the time dell introduces montevina and the new processors to it's studio line there isn't much of a difference.

For me the keyboard on studio is pretty much the same except that it's black in color.
